Chapter Six

It felt great to be back in his natural form. One thing they had to be sure of when traveling from planet to planet was that they had a safe place to lay their heads and rest their bodies at night. Changing into the semblance of other species was tiring and draining. They needed to be themselves, in their proper form, to rest. All three had made sure to feed before coming here.

Steel knew that his mates had their own personal gifts for Daisy tucked away in their bags. Tonight Bull would give her his gift and they all hoped she would accept it, but right now Daisy and her mother were still coming to terms with the men’s physical bodies.

“Ms. Willflower, there are many different species that live on our planet. There are even, from what I have heard, a few other human women. As I have already told your daughter, we need white blood cells to survive, but we do not kill. There are also positive benefits to this for those we feed on. There is a fluid that is released into the skin of the donor that helps with healing when it is done. In higher concentrations, this fluid has been proven to heal other damage and illnesses. So it’s a little like trading, you could say.”

“We’re being rude here. Pull up a chair and sit, you three. I know I have more questions for you and don’t worry about changing back tonight. Andrew will be at his girlfriend’s house and Betsy won’t be back until Christmas Day. She’s spending time with her boyfriend’s family.” Her mother got up and made her way into the kitchen. “I’ll make us all some hot chocolate.”

Steel nodded and Bull went over to Daisy and picked her up, setting her into his lap while he took the chair to the side of the couch. Con sat down on the floor next to the chair and leaned against the wall. Daisy and her family didn’t have much and she’d been right about the neighborhood. They would not be leaving her family here without someone to watch out for them.

Bull looked down at Daisy and murmured into her hair, “Tonight, I would like to give you my gift. I was going to wait until we could be alone, but it might be a good idea for your mother to see.” Daisy’s mom had come back into the room and handed him and Con each a steaming cup of cocoa.

“Hold on, let me get the other cups, I’ll be right back,” she ran back and got another cup along with hers. “Here you go, Steel. Now let’s see what you got?” She asked and sat down on the couch next to them.

“They don’t need to give me anything,” Daisy said, but took the box and carefully opened it up. Bull held his grin back, as she frowned taking the crystal bottle out of the box. She looked up at Steel and then back to Bull.
